Membership
Since its founding in 1910, PSA Members have included such poets as Robert Frost, Langston Hughes,
Edna St. Vincent Millay, Marianne Moore, and Wallace Stevens. Current PSA Members—John Ashbery,
Louise Glück, Rita Dove, Brenda Hillman, Yusef Komunyakaa, Stanley Kunitz, Sharon Olds, Robert

Awards
As early as 1915, the PSA began to sponsor a series of national awards to
honor innovation and stylistic mastery in the work of both emerging and
established American poets. Over the course of the last century, prizes
have been conferred on such poets as Frank Bidart, John Berryman, Elizabeth
Bishop, Lucille Clifton, Robert Creeley, e.e. cummings, Louise Glück, Brenda
Hillman, Denise Levertov, and Robert Pinsky.

Upcoming Events
In 1934, the poet Jessie B. Rittenhouse published a memoir that includes a dazzling account of
the PSA's first few seasons. She recalls being at the PSA for the last sighting of Ezra Pound in
the New York bohemian scene, Sara Teasdale's literary debut, a visit by Amy Lowell on the eve of
The Imagist Anthology, Siegfried Sassoon's post-World War One reading, and the American tour of
W.B. Yeats. PSA Calendar's is no less exciting, with readings and seminars that will
challenge and engage contemporary poetry audiences across the country.

Poetry in Motion®
Working in collaboration with MTA/NYCTA, the PSA inaugurated Poetry in Motion® in 1992 and
has since expanded the program to 10 cities and campuses, including Amherst, Baltimore, Chicago,
Dallas, Fort Collins, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Portland, and Ohio State University. PSA Online
expands Poetry in Motion®'s presence still further with two special website features:
The PSA Atlas, a vital anthology of 200 Poetry in
Motion® poems, and Poetry in Motion® Postcards, a selection
of poems and graphic designs that can be emailed to online recipients. For information on the

Chapbook Contests
Begun in 2002, the Poetry Society of America Chapbook Contests are judged annually by four renowned
poets. Chapbook Contest winners receive publication and $1000. Please visit the
